Hatha Yoga
The ultimate mind/body/spirit exercise. Classic yoga postures (asanas) combine with meditation, breathing techniques, and deep
relaxation, to increase strength, flexibility, balance, and body awareness. As the mind quiets and centers, a general sense of
well-being arises, and a deep appreciation for life emerges. Hatha yoga can be practiced, with great benefit, by students of
all ages, from all walks of life.
Anusara Yoga (Mixed Level & Intermediate): Anusara Yoga integrates the principles of
body awareness and structural alignment with a celebration of heart energy.
Accurate sensing of muscular action combined with visualization of natural energy flow creates a soulful, heart-centered
practice that promotes heightened awareness, lasting wellness, positive outlook, and compassion for self and others.
Students must have prior yoga experience. A previous Anusara class is helpful, though not necessary.
Beginner’s & Continuing Beginner's Yoga: An introduction to Hatha Yoga, in which
classic yoga postures (asanas) combine with breathing techniques and deep relaxation to increase strength, flexibility,
balance and body awareness. Hatha Yoga nurtures your being on many levels--body, mind, and spirit. Appropriate for students
of all ages, from all walks of life.
Intermediate Hatha Yoga: This class is designed for students who have had at least a
year-long disciplined Beginner's Hatha Yoga practice and who are ready to undertake the challenges of more advanced
inversions, balance poses (including arm balances) and backbends, including full wheel (urdhva dhanurasana.)
Gentle Morning Yoga: Gentle stretching and strengthening combine with meditation,
visualization, and breathwork, to help create a great start to the day. Rooted in the tradition of Hatha yoga, students
will increase strength, flexibility, balance, and body awareness. As the mind quiets and centers, a general sense of
well-being arises, and a deep appreciation for life emerges.
Shakti Yoga for Women: Named for the Hindu Goddess of Creation, this Hatha Yoga class
is designed specifically for the female frame and frame of mind. We acknowledge and honor the uniqueness of the female
anatomy, physiology, and psychology with appropriate adjustments to the traditional male-oriented practice. Women of all
ages, sizes, and backgrounds come together to develop power and strength along with flexibility and softness as we honor
the Divine Feminine in all of us.
Mixed Level Hatha Yoga: In this mixed-level class, classic yoga postures (asanas)
combine with meditation, breathing techniques, and deep relaxation to increase strength, flexibility, balance, and body
awareness. Modifications and props will be available for students to further their practice at their own pace.
YogAwake!
Get your energy revved up with this lively combination of Vinyasa, Kundalini and Hatha Yoga techniques! This 90-minute class is
designed to activate and balance subtle energy and keep you at your best through even the toughest days. This is a somewhat
strenuous and challenging class that offers profound benefits to those who persevere.
Vinyasa or Flow (Morning, Beginner's & Mixed Level)
Vinyasa, in Sanskrit, literally means "to place in a special way" or "the intelligent putting together of things." In yoga, a
vinyasa flow indicates that asanas are practiced in a special sequence that flows with (and from) the movement of breath.
Generally speaking, all yoga "flow" classes can be considered vinyasa. This type of practice is especially well suited to
those who prefer movement to stillness. High energy types love vinyasa! While intense focus on breath calms the mind, the
continuous movement of the body through a sequence of poses, brings internal peace, culminating in deep relaxation.
Qigong
In the tradition of Chinese martial arts, Qigong mindfully aligns posture while intentionally regulating the gentle, flowing
movement of the body with the breath. A Qigong session includes a warm-up, an exercise form, and a standing meditation as a
closing. Like Yoga and Pilates, Qigong is a "core" exercise that is kind to the joints and muscles, and stretches, tones, and
relaxes the whole body
Happy Kids Yoga
Yoga kids are happy kids! This delightful class for 4 - 6 year-olds will bring the benefits of yoga to your child through
imaginative play, yoga asanas and special songs designed to bring harmony to the lives of little yogis. The whole family
will radiate with bliss!
